How do do you get a job in the construction industry?

I am looking to change careers and want to get into the construction industry. Any help on how to land a job? Thanks.
PS. I’m in the Atlanta area, but would relocate to either Seattle or Columbus Ohio.

My kind of person! What kind of construction do you want to get into? Carpentry, masonry, iron working, welding, pipefitting, millwright, insulation, QA/QC, inspection… you really opened a can of worms here.

I got in it through inspection nondestructive testing (NDT). X-ray, magnetic particle, penetrant, ultra sound, YAH BABY! It’s light blue collar work. If you get your API certifications you could make $100k/year pretty easy.

I would suggest contacting CONAM inspection. They are a quality company. My second choice would be TEAM inc.

There is a CONAM lab in Cleavland (216) 674-0626, Heath (740) 788-9188, Seattle (206) 764-8123. Down South there are labs in Mobile (251) 443-5290, their all over the country really. Just go to http://www.conaminsp.com and check it out. Its’ a lot easier to get into than you think. Tell them you are interested in getting your ASNT level 1 certifications.
