Ryder will be turning ONE in June so I want to plan an amazing party for him!
(yes I know he wont remember but I will be taking a bunch of pictures and im sure his daddy will be video taping him so he can see later)
My fiance at first thought it was girly but there will be no mermaids or anything like that NOT an ariel party. I was thinking more 20000 leagues under the sea. Then he came around to the idea since we wanted to do a construction theme and safari when he is older.. to remember. And no I will not be putting my boy in a Sailor suit!~ Haha tho, I think its cute. But anyway back on subject. I want to plan a boyish party for him “20000 leagues under the sea” And i would love any ideas to capture that theme and make it a great party!

The wording of your under the sea birthday party invitations can say “Calling all Jellyfish, Sharks, Squid and Seals, too…There’s going to be an adventure, and we’d love to share it with you! You’re O-Fish-ally invited to come under the sea. It’s (your child’s name) Under the Sea Birthday Party!”. Then include day, time, address.

To welcome your guests, hang balloons and streamers on your mailbox and front door. Put sea life posters on the fence, and hang plastic tropical fish from the tree branches. Fill kiddie pools with water, and place them in the yard.

Decorate your under the sea birthday party room with green and blue balloons. Hang green “seaweed” streamers from the ceiling, chairs, or from the top of a windowsill. Cut out starfish, seahorses, and other sea animals from Construction Paper. Tape cutouts to some of the streamers.

Blueprints For Construction Birthday Party Activities

A construction birthday party or a Bob the Builder party won’t be complete for your dump-truck lovin’ boy unless you plan some construction-related activities. Put on your hard hat, aka your thinking cap, and get ready to plan some dynamite activities!

Dirt Play – If you have room, truck in a load of dirt or use an existing pile of dirt for your construction crew. Provide various toy dump trucks, excavators, shovels, buckets, etc.

Building – Gather large appliance boxes and have the kids work together to create one large structure or several “buildings.” Have helpers available to assist them in duct taping their structures. They can then paint and decorate them.

Construction Tool Relay – This game is best for kids who are at least 5-6 years old. Split the kids into teams and give each team an empty tool belt. Place a hard hat, safety goggles, work gloves, and plastic tools at the finish line, e.g., hammer, wrench, screwdriver, pliers, etc. There should be one set of these items for each team.

The object of the game is for the first player of each team to put on the empty tool belt, run to the finish line, and fill the belt up with tools, put on the goggles, hard hat, and gloves, and run back to their teammates. Then that person must remove the filled tool belt, goggles, hard hat, and gloves and hand them to their next teammate. That person puts everything on and runs back to the finish line, where that person will remove the tools from the belt, take off the hard hat, goggles, and gloves, and run back to their team and hand-off the empty tool belt to the next person in line on their team. The first team to get through all of their teammates is the winner.

Wrap ‘Em Up – Separate the kids into teams and give each team a roll of caution tape. On “Go”, one person on each team will be mummified by their teammates. The first team to completely cover someone, excluding the head, with the caution tape is the winner.

Wheelbarrow Relay – Split the kids into teams and give them each a child-size wheelbarrow. On “Go”, the first person on each team pushes the wheelbarrow to the finish line and back to their teammates. The play continues until all the members of one team has had a turn, thus they are the winner.

Pass The Hammer – This game is played like “Pass the Parcel.” Have all the kids sit in a circle and pass around a small “toolbox” filled with candy as music plays. When the music stops, whoever is holding the toolbox shall pick a candy out and sit the rest of the game out. Play continues until everyone has received a candy and the ultimate winner is the last person left in the game who ultimately wins the toolbox of remaining candy.

Remember, when you have gathered a group of youngsters to celebrate a construction birthday party or a Bob the Builder party, you may expect them to be full of energy and want to build, dig, and get dirty. Therefore, plan your party foundation accordingly and construct a few activities to help burn off their excess energy.

So I am having my sons birthday party for his 2nd birthday soon. He loves tools so it is a tool theme, but I am having trouble finding tool decor. And for his invites I am cutting out hammers and letting his big sis and him color them and writing the invite on them. I am going nuts looking everywhere. My sons party theme is construction (NOT Construction Trucks) everywhere I look for construction theme has to fully do with trucks. All we want is tools on the invitations. So please if you know where I can get invites with tools or any ideas to make my own invitations let me know. I would also love to hear your ideas for party games(trucks are ok in this area) I just don’t want trucks to over power actual construction theme( my husbands a Construction Worker and never works with construction trucks.) Make them yourself! It’s easy. Either do it on the computer or go to the craft store to get stickers or stamps or paper cutters or stencils.

Just an FYI, most little boys love trucks, and most of the fun of a construction theme is the trucks. My son’s first birthday theme was construction, and we gave out hardhats to everyone (ordered them from Oriental Trading.) We also gave out gummy tools as favors, along with construction sticker books and Matchbox Construction Vehicles.

Can’t help you on the party games regarding the theme, though. We just had general party games (horseshoes, etc.)

Congratulations! Your baby is almost one year old, and it’s time to have a 1st birthday party. If this is your first baby, you might like some good first birthday ideas. And even if this is not your first child, you may still appreciate some good first birthday party ideas for making it a warm and loving family occasion.

Who is the First Birthday Party For?

One of the most important things to remember is who this birthday party is really for. At the ripe old age of one, your little one is hardly likely to remember anything about it, except for the birthday cards and pictures that will remain in the scrapbook or photo album afterwards. A one-year-old baby will also not appreciate all the pretty birthday decorations in the same way that you do. When you dress your little girl in her gorgeous, pink “birthday princess” outfit, bear in mind that she will probably make it absolutely filthy in seconds with bits of chocolate, ice cream, and all the other available goodies.

Therefore, renting a hall, a live band, and an elaborate catered meal would not exactly be appropriate here. You might enjoy all the pomp and circumstance, but it is hardly worth it if the hero of the occasion can’t stand it and screams all the way through. If you invite dozens of workmates whom your baby has never seen before, your little one is likely to find the whole experience far too overwhelming and the party will end in tears.

The first rule, therefore, when making your baby’s birthday party is to think what would make the birthday girl or boy happy. At the age of one, most babies are still leery of strangers. They also find loud noises overwhelming. Some babies at this age are still afraid of balloons, so you should try to save those until next year.

For all of these reasons, you should keep all birthday themes fairly low-key. Don’t be seduced by all the colourful advertisements and promises presented by the ” birthday supplies” industry. Your baby would most likely be happiest with a small party, soon after naptime, with a group of their closest friends.

Therefore, keep the birthday invitation list fairly small. If your little one already goes to playgroup, for example, or you know a group of other young mothers and their babies from your visits to the park, these would be the best people to invite, along with your close nieces and nephews, Grandma and Grandpa. These are all the people that your baby is familiar with, and their presence is guaranteed to make your little one feel happy and loved.

Your baby really doesn’t want loads of loud birthday decorations and scary noises. By all means use colour-coordinated plates and serviettes if that makes you happy, but provide healthy finger foods and dips that babies and adults alike would enjoy eating rather than foods that your baby has either never eaten before or would not be any good for them. Banish anything like peanuts that could get stuck in small throats or cause allergies.

Dress the baby in something gorgeous for the photographs at the beginning, but make sure that it’s washable and don’t stress when it gets absolutely filthy!

Also remember that babies of this age tend to play next to each other, rather than together. So lay out plenty of safe toys for all the little ones to play with together on a mat. Games should be age appropriate.

Also make sure that the room is baby-proofed, with all breakables and potentially dangerous items well out of the way.

The party doesn’t need to go on longer than about an hour and a half. After that, if you want, you can put your birthday boy or girl down to rest and the adult guests can have some social time together once the focus is no longer on the birthday.

Most important of all, don’t stress. A 1st birthday is not a wedding. It doesn’t require anything elaborate. What really counts is a happy baby and some gorgeous photos in the family album!

Christmas crafts for a school holiday party?

My school club is organizing a holiday party for kids ages 3 to 10. There will be over 60 kids at this party. Only four of us are working the crafts table. For supplies, we have or plan to buy:
-Colored Construction Paper
-Puff paint
-Glitter glue
-Markers, colored pencils, crayons
-Glue sticks/elmer’s glue
-Pipe cleaners
-Beads
-Cotton balls
-Popsicle sticks

You could always make paper chains. Cut six inch strips about inch and a half wide glue or sticky tape end. Next strip put through first one before gluing. Linking together forms the chain. You don’t have to use construction paper any colored paper will do. Use paper plates to make angels. Cut in half and join together to make cone. Ball for head, wings cut out of paper glitter on cone for dress. Have fun.

Depression 2008: India May Have Scaring 2009

DEPRESSION TRICKLE IN US

It was 1977 when the Vietnam War ended and the GIs came home. They began taking out loans and spending some of their savings. At that time, in America, monetary inflation as a result of the war and the large amount of savings sloshing around in banks started creeping into the prices of tangible goods such as metals, food, and energy. Social Security benefits were rising at an annual pace of near 10%. The economy was affluent with liquidity.

In 1979, Paul Volcker stepped in as chairman of the Federal Reserve and realized that Americans should keep faith in the U.S. dollar to save the Federal Reserve, along with the fractional banking system of the United States, from collapse. He raised the rates to 20 % whereby the system became purged of excess liquidity, though as an unintended aftermath. This made mass bankruptcies to ensue. Short term lending dried and the economy ceased to function properly. However, complex investment derivatives and globalization postponed the inevitable situation. But, as an aftermath of globalization, big bulk of Dollar went to Chinese foreign exchange holdings because of massive trade deficit of America with China. This made a considerable dent on money supply in the economy. A huge amount of dollars went also into the reserves of oil exporting nations as well.  A further contraction in liquidity, resulting in a scare, came about on account of the collapse of the dot.com bubble. However, the dollars which were initially going into foreign reserves, but eventually returned to the U.S. economy in the form of purchased U.S. treasuries. All the same, the net inflow of dollars remained negative and the gap went on being widened. To keep the economy moving forward, the money supply and loan base needed to grow at a faster rate than the rate at which liquidity was being contracting.

The members of the Federal Reserve understood that for this economy to move forward, something needed to be done, and they took serious action. They immediately began printing money at large and started slashing interest rates so as to make home loans to become more appealing. In addition thereto, exotic lending instruments became created in order to provide more loans to the already strapped consumer. Hence, the beginning of sub prime mortgages came about. This helped the economy run a little bit longer but how much longer? The problem of current account deficit running in the red persisted whereby dollars went on continuously to flowing out of the country. By and by, the economy went on advancing towards the point where it becomes unable to sell any of its debt and the consumers become unable to take further loan. Large number of loans started going bad and the banks became short of capital to make further loans. Ultimately the melting point became reached, the faith in US Dollar and US banking system collapsed and a deeply threatening recessive trend settled in the US economy. The bailout strategy and likewise monetary measures could not check the money going wrong way. Nor the trade enhancement efforts could prove fruitful to mitigate, to the required extent, the increasing dollar reserve holdings by other countries like China through currency manipulations based on their cheaply produced exports. The recessive trend of US economy stepped beyond national boundaries through international transactions and trapped almost all European countries. Thus, almost the whole Europe and America came in the ambit of the scaring economic turmoil called ‘The Depression 2008’.

DEPRESSION TRICKLE IN INDIA

On the other hand, Indian economy (like other developing countries) was still suffering from persistent inflationary pressure on account of heavy autonomous investment aiming to achieve increasing growth rate. The inflation rate touched a blatting height of 12.91 % in the week ending on 2nd of Aug. 2008, despite that the income distribution was highly unequal, the middleman profit margins were unjustifiably high and banks were enjoying sufficient saving deposits. There was being observed sufficient demand in market despite the prices were increasing on account of increasing costs of production due to illogically heavy payments to CEOs, MDs and other likewise personnel along with superfluously enormous expenditures on advertisements. There has been prevailing mass unemployment but the wages and salaries were increasing. This shows that the Indian economy was running in a paradoxical condition. Thus, only a small spark was needed to start the reverse gear to make Indian economy advancing towards the point of meltdown. Being exposed to the risks of trading with the depression stricken countries and the cheaply produced export manipulating countries like China, on account of globalization, the Indian economy ultimately got the spark which was though unwanted but symptomatically due. The prevailing inflationary pressure started being mitigated. The front line concerns observing price decrease started crying for help instead of finding cost reducing ways and means to cut the unnecessarily and illogically raged costs. The government and the RBI (Reserve Bank of India) mistakenly came to their help in haste and that too following the way of bailouts as inspired from US. A short detail of the measures taken by the government and RBI is as under.

(1) SBI declared cut in various banking rates (REPO rate, SLR, Reverse REPO rate, CRR etc.) on N0v.02, 2008 to provide extra capital of Rs 850 billion in market. Including all previous measures RBI provided total extra capital worth Rs 2750 billion in the market up to this declaration.

(2) The government declared on Nov. 18, 2008, Rs 500 billion to be invested by the Central Government with public-private partnership in infrastructure projects.

(3) SBI declared on Dec. 06, 2008, a special loan facility of Rs 110 billion to help housing and small industries.

(4) The government declared on Dec. 06, 2008, a budgetary help worth Rs 150 billion to infrastructure projects.

(5) The government declared on Dec. 07, 2008, a bailout package worth Rs 3000 billion to rescue the economy from depression grip.

(6) The government declared another economic package on Jan. 02, 2009 to remove slackness in the economy due to the world depression. In addition thereto RBI declared further cut in various banking rates that would bring about an increase worth Rs 200 billion in the liquidity in banking sector.

All the measures mentioned above could not prove fruitful in keeping the economy beyond the ambit of depression grip. Hence, Indian economy also, like US economy, went on slowing down making the remedial measures to slink. The inflation rate came down from 12.91 % in the week ending on Aug. 02, 2008, to 5.24 % in the week ending on Jan. 03, 2009. Thus, the average downfall in the inflation rate came out to be of 0.37 % per week (approximately) during the period of five months. Moreover, the trend of per-week downfall was found to be increasing. It was 0.44 % in the week ending on Nov. 22, 2008 and came to 0.67 % in the week ending on Jan. 03, 2009. The average per-week downfall in inflation rate was 0f 0.20 % within the period from Aug, 02 to Oct. 18, 2008. It came out to 0.44 % in the week ending on Nov. 22, 2008 and to 0.67 % in the week ending on Jan. 03, 2009. During the above said period of 22 weeks (approximately five months) the per-week downfall of 1.10 % was the maximum which came about in the week ending on Dec. 06, 2008.

The vehicle manufacturing sector became badly affected. The sale of passenger cars came 6.98 % down to 82105 cars in Dec. 2008 as compared to 88272 cars in Dec. 2007. The decrease in the sale of passenger vehicles came out to be 13.85 % as the sale remained 99352 vehicles in Dec. 2008 in comparison to 115334 vehicles in Dec. 2007. The sale of trucks and buses came 58.28 % down as it was 42961 vehicles in Dec.2007 and came down to 17920 vehicles in Dec 2008. Three wheelers also observed 28.98 % decrease in the sale as the sale was 26823 in Dec.2007 which came down to 19048 vehicles in Dec.2008. The aftermath of this downfall in the sale of automobiles resulted into both the direct and the indirect cuts in the prices of all automobiles. For example, price cut from Rs 125000 to Rs 200000 on Volvo trucks and from Rs 16000 to Rs 37000 on Eicher trucks, The prices of Hero Honda products have been lowered from Rs 1000 to Rs 2000, the prices of different products of Bajaj Auto stand lowered  up to Rs 2100, Bajaj Auto also lowered the prices of its three wheeler products up to Rs 4400, General Motors India made a price cut on their different cars from Rs 8000 to Rs 16500 and Ford India lowered the price of its model ‘Fusion’ by Rs 18000, Fiesta from Rs 2100 to Rs 25000 and Endeavor from Rs 47000 to Rs 54000. Similarly, Maruti Suzuki started giving discount from Rs 15,000 to Rs 35,000 on its cars and Tata Motors gave relaxation on its cars from Rs 20,000 to Rs 30,000. Moreover, Hyundai Motor India Ltd. decided to sell its popular model, SANTRO GL (Solid) model, at 10 years old price of Rs 299000 along with giving relaxation worth Rs 15,773 in the form of free insurance and accessories in non-AC segment, worth Rs 26,000 on SANTRO GLS model and from Rs 7,000 to Rs 25,000 on GATZ, Accent and Verna models.

Some of manufacturing companies are exercising wage cut indirectly through short term block closers, cut in working hours or cut in week days. For example, Tata Motors observed fourth block-closer for three days in its heavy vehicles plant at Jamshedpur from 28th to 31st December 2008, TELCON (Tata Construction Equipment Co. Ltd.), a company with 60 % partnership of Tata observed a second block-closer in its Jamshedpur plant, within a period of one month, for three days from 25th to 27th of December 2008, Telco Construction Equipment Co. Ltd. (TELCON) observed a four days block-closer from 4th to 7th Dec. 2008 and ZF Steering, a vehicle ancillary company declared a second block-closers from Jan. 21st to 27th, having already observed the first one from Dec. 21st to 27th, 2008. On the other hand, Ashok Leyland observed five days week for two months.

Some companies have started to resort even to retrenchment of employees to some extent despite restrictive directions from the government. Retrenchment of 15000 temporary employees in the ancillary industries of Tata Motors, job loss for more than half of a million employees of depression stricken textile industry and discharge of 60 % workforce of manufacturing facilities of Volvo India are some of the examples.

GOVERNMENT RELUCTANCE

Despite the frequent news coming from media for last two weeks, regarding different concerns placing demand for and pleading further bailouts, the government seems to pay no heed to this issue and show reluctance to exercise another bailout in near future. I think the government has now come to understand that bailout is a weapon of no use to make the current turmoil good since it neither improves income distribution nor it checks the money going wrong ways. Companies intend to preserve their profits by making good the deficit in profit, caused on account of demand based price cut, through bailout proceeds and not through cost cutting, in its stead. They speak of increased cost but want not to accept that the rapid cost increase has come about not on account of raw material price increase and wage rate increase but due to the illogically, unjustifiably and arbitrarily enormous payments to advertisement agencies, the directors, CEOs and likewise personnel, on one hand, and due to irrelevant, unfair and unjust profit margins of middlemen or traders (some times even up to 10 times of the whole sale price), on the other hand.

SCARING 2009

However, the reason of the government silence may also be the coming end of the term of Congress Party’s government. If it is so and the depressive effects are being suppressed without undertaking legitimate and compatible measures of depression encountering, there will be a blatting invasion of austere depression on Indian economy after the due elections are completed. If so happens, the later half of 2009 will become very difficult and rather scaring for us since the Indian economy would be thrown into a sore predicament. If the condition of rapidly falling inflation rate, banking rates, stock market index etc. persisted, the under developed Indian economy may have more difficult to get through 2009, in comparison to the well developed US economy.

How To Decorate Tables

If you are serving food, use a bright orange paper table cloth to cover the tables. Ghosts Made From Streamers

The Haunted Corner

If you have enough classroom space, create a haunted corner for younger children to go in during the Halloween party.  The haunted corner can be as simple as a lightweight black sheet or piece of fabric hung from ceiling to floor with some scary items behind it. You will definitely want to leave the haunted corner somewhat visible so you can see what’s going on the entire time and keep an eye on your students. Fake spider webs hanging from the entryway to brush the students’ heads when they walk inside or a small table with a bowl full of something slimy are a few ideas for how to decorate the haunted corner.

Activity Tables For Your Party

Set up tables with fun activity choices for the children. Provide small pumpkins that children can paint and then take home. A stack of colorful foam sheets can be used to make Halloween decorations that can be used for many years. Have the students make a background for their decoration by cutting out a good size oval or rectangular shape from one of the foam sheets. Then, give them some stencils of pumkins, ghosts, cats, witches and other Halloween themed stencils allowing them to use their imaginations and creativity to make their own unique Halloween decoration.

What theme should I have for my son’s first birthday party?

My son is turning 1 next month and I would like to have a cute theme for his party with out clearing the bank account. He isn’t really into anything specific yet. As long as it moves or lights up he plays with it. I want the theme to be different, nothing that is common. I was thinking maybe construction or tractors but I am not sure. Any ideas on themes and online store for party supplies.

In Australia anyway, a first birthday is usually a barbie (as in BBQ) with friends and rellies having a ball while the one year old has a nap after playing with the wrapping paper from his presents! It’s generally used as an excuse for an adult party and inviting around friends that you’ve been meaning to catch up with, but haven’t had the time.

Don’t get too worked up. I’ve worked years in hospitality and spent years being a mother. My conclusions are:
- people come to a kid’s party a) because they feel obliged to, b) because they want to see YOU and have a good time.
- a few takeaway pizzas and garlic bread will go down just as well as a million specialty themed items.
- if there’s other small kids and you’re going construction themed, then get to a second hand store and buy up toy trucks/tractors, plastic spades, blocks, little things like that that you can put in a certain area for them all to play with… then afterwards you can keep anything you like, or just re-donate anything you don’t want to keep. If you’ve got a yard, you can start stocking up on smaller cardboard boxes that could be used for stacking and building things (cereal boxes, fruit boxes, etc), but won’t injure any little ones if they topple.
- if there’s older kids, then a pinata is always a big hit.

Construction is a great theme… it gives you a lot of inexpensive options. Kids that young will build anything… out of anything. When they get to about 5/6 years they get a bit more involved in what they want. But my now 6 year old still asks each year for the homemade chocolate cake smothered in smarties that I made for her 3rd birthday. It wasn’t pretty… but there was none left over!

A Black Light Party Is Bound To Supply A Glowing Good Time!

A Black Light Party is one of the coolest looking and most fun parties to attend for both tweens and kids alike.  This party is certain to light them up!  

Invites

Start your black light party excitement by utilizing black Construction Paper to make your invites and write all your party information with glow in the dark markers.  

Decorations

For most impressive results, you will want your party room to be pitch black.   if at all practical it’s best to hold this kind of party at night.  If need be, cover windows with black butcher paper to keep all hints of light out of the room.  Replace all the lights in the room with black lights ; the more, the better.  Start out by defining your party area.  If you have places in the house that you don’t want your guests to venture into, use black light reactive rope to keep them out of those express areas.  

As guests arrive, escort them into a pitch black room, which is only lit up by black lights and pumps out with glow in the dark and fiber-optic items.  For a really fun addition, add a fog machine.  This will enhance the bizarre glow of the room and add to the thrill of it all.  Think about employing a bubble machine.  Fill it with glowing tekno bubble solution, then all it spews out will glow in the dark.  It’s a perfect add-on to a black light party.
