There are many QB versions for very specific reasons. Each industry has certain requirements that it needs filled from their accounting package in terms of the various types of accounts that QB sets up for you when you first start using QB in your company. Your best bet is to decide which industry you want to work in and then learn that version. Once you know the fundamentals of QB you can then transfer your current skills (with QB) into another industry. Many functions in QB are standard across most industries.
I used QB daily in two different companies I own and while the companies are different QB still works using one version – even though Intuit makes a specific version for each.
