Unemployment Eligibility?
I have been a continuously employed county contractor in Maryland for two years. I relocated after accepting a contract-to-hire position for Massachusetts state government. The contract was canceled after I moved. Now I am unemployed.
Am I eligible for unemployment in MD or MA?
probably not unless you paid in to the fund in the name of your own business. you were a contractor not an employee there is a reason it is referred to as “unemployment insurance” and not “contractor without work insurance”.
How the Census Affects Your Wallet
In by gone days all a contractor had to do was give the customer good quality and good service and he/she would be set. Then set back and let your customers do your selling for you. They would tell a friend and then that friend would tell a friend. Your phone would be ringing off the hook.
