Hardware Brings Life to your Salt Lake City Home Improvement

One of the delights of home improvement in Salt Lake City is shopping for supplies.  Starting from the ground you have flooring, carpet and tile;  then halfway are the cabinets, countertops, sinks, doors, knobs, windows, appliances, furniture and fixtures; and up comes lighting and roofing.  For the exterior you have wheelbarrow, mower, rake, shrub trimmers and other gardening equipment.  How about that dog house and bird cage?  Bring life to it by choosing materials that duplicate your own house.

Hardware supplies are an essential part of every home.  Tools and accessories in boxes or shelves should be readily available in case you have do-it-yourself small repairs.  A good starter kit includes a hammer, screwdrivers, nails, screws, nuts, bolts, washers, wrenches, pliers, measuring tape, sandpaper, level, handsaw, drill and masking and duct tapes.  Remember to include also a flashlight, battery charges and extension cords.

Usually, you can find these tools in different sizes that fit your needs.  They also come in traveling convenience.  If you have limited storage space, choose cordless power tools and combination tools such as a screwdriver that fits inside a hammer.  Adding these tools to your Salt Lake City home improvement is fun because these keep your home in order.

Unlike specialty shops, a hardware store for home improvement is always in demand in the Salt Lake City area.  Everyone is accommodated, expert handyman or not.  Advice is generously given for simple “how-to’s”.  How do you choose a store that is best for you?  Find one that caters to all your needs and most especially, one that agrees to your budget.  It should be a reliable resource which answers all your questions in a friendly way.  No time to go out for shopping?  No problem!  Online stores are right at your fingertips.  Simply browse the categories and order what you need.  In a short time your supplies arrive safely at your doorstep.

Any project is possible for Mr. DIY.  Maybe you are installing a new cabinet in the kitchen or perhaps doing a repainting job.  You may have color schemes in mind but still unsure what you want?  Amuse yourself with rollers and brushes.  Maybe you just need to brainstorm possibilities for your Salt Lake City home improvement.  Pool care, lawn maintenance, gardening or landscaping, with appropriate hardware at hand ideas become a reality.

Can one man pour and finish a good solid 10 x 30 foot concrete patio with a tiny cement mixer himself?

I’ve worked a little before with concrete but I’m not a contractor at all. I got this 5-cubic-foot mixer that doesn’t fill the wheelbarrow with cement. I doubt it makes 5 cubic feet cement at once.

I figure the first half-cubic-yard poured will be too hard to do any screeding or trowelling while I’m mixing the seventh batch for pouring. I could put “construction breaks, but how much can I figure I can pour myself and still manage? By the way it’s 10 x 30 feet but not very deep – the base rises up in places so it may be only 3.5 inches thick at the thinnest point but I plan on adding an acrylic bonding agent (acryl 60) and it really is foot traffic only anyway, AND the layer beneath the thinnest point is the old concrete sidewalk so that’s not going to move much.

Thanks in advance!

see homier dot com item 03938 for mixer, rated “5 cubic feet” but I wonder how much concrete it can practically hold – less than a full wheelbarrow, I believe

professionals would make the whole piece and then slice it up to control where it cracks. If you want to do it piece-meal by yourself a manageable amount would be 3000 to 4000 lbs of concrete in a day. More if you are young and strong.

I would not expect to finish it in one day. I would make sure each section is nice and square where it will meet the next section and try 12 5X5 ft sections or 3 10×10 sections. One section per day if making the larger sections.

sounds like your mixer would do a few bags at a time which is much easier than mixing by hand and is enough to keep you busy

there are a lot of nice options for texture and color if you want to get creative and make it look more like stone or brick.

My georgia buggy, concrete buggy, power buggy or wheelbarrow can’t do that!

In by gone days all a contractor had to do was give the customer good quality and good service and he/she would be set. Then set back and let your customers do your selling for you. They would tell a friend and then that friend would tell a friend. Your phone would be ringing off the hook. I remember as an Architectural designer some days I would have up to four people wanting to schedule appointments for designs. Those days are long gone! But Fear Not! Click Here For Help
