Contractor Lighting Fixtures

Choosing Bathroom Light Fixtures

Bathroom light fixtures come in many styles, colors, designs and layouts so even the most selective of homeowners will have many options to opt from. Bathroom lighting fixtures can come as pendant lighting, wall mounted lighting, shower bath lights, mirror lighting, and many others.

Most bathrooms will require spare flush mount cap lighting or recessed lighting in the lav area, shower area and/or center of the room to fill the entire room properly with light.

Current lighting trends lead consumers to light fixtures that are both useable and aesthetically appealing. In small bathrooms, mirrored lights will illuminate the entire room; but in bigger areas, an additional ceiling fixture is often needed for general bathroom lighting.

If the room has a whole wall mirror you can mount the fixtures right on the mirror. Installing the fixtures on the mirror requires extra preparation and coordination with the electrical contractor and the glass supplier. Avoid installing ceiling mounted fixtures as the sole source unless the room is very small with light colored walls.

Other lav light fixtures that are available include recessed or sunk in light fixtures, available with plain metallic trim or exceedingly ornate trims that bring up a baroque feel. Bathroom downlights, or recessed lights, are the most in demand source of general lighting, however, pendant and mini chandeliers are being used more and more as decorative fixtures as well as for general illumination.

There are a host of details that will ultimately define the style of a home and you look for out those elements that best reflect the design that most appeals to you. Consider hiring an design specialist who can help you “harvest” natural light by designing the home with daylight in mind. Overall, the practice employs sound design principles that are simple to apply. And while lavatory light fixtures are most ideally-used to accomplish the specific design of the room, don?t forget that you also have to conceive their functionality.

Recessed lighting is often used over the bathing tub or toilet. Use recessed light as accent lighting in combination with focused task lighting. Using only recessed lighting will create shadows and interfere with makeup application and shaving. For additional warmth on wintry mornings, consider adding a recessed infrared heat lamp as well.

Bathroom lighting can sometimes be a little complex and if anything there is too much choice. While acting as the ultimate in utility and function, ornamental lavatory lighting will also add a plenty of style to the room. In small bathrooms, mirrored lights will illuminate the entire room; but in bigger areas, an extra ceiling fixture is often needed for general lavatory lighting.

Contractor question-bathrooms being redone?

I am having my two bathrooms redone. The downstairs is a sink&toilet
upstairs-full bath/shower-Both are small(live in townhouse)
They started on Monday-the downstairs is tiled, painted, toilet in-THAT’S IT-no light fixture at all, upstairs tile is out except for a small piece, tub is in but not ready at all-they put the walls up and that is. Sink/vanity is still in-toilet out
Am I wrong in thinking more should have been done? Should the downstairs have a light in it?
I am not home when they do it-I go to work-I am leaving early today
Thanks for any input..

you should have told the contractors, you needed a light in the bottom bathroom before they started. but a light can be installed any time, if the one installing the light knows what they are doing, even thought the walls are already up and painted. you can leave a note or call your contractor.

In by gone days all a contractor had to do was give the customer good quality and good service and he/she would be set. Then set back and let your customers do your selling for you. They would tell a friend and then that friend would tell a friend. Your phone would be ringing off the hook. I remember as an Architectural designer some days I would have up to four people wanting to schedule appointments for designs. Those days are long gone! But Fear Not! Click Here For Help
