How a Full Service Electrical Contractor Can Help You

How can a full service electrical contractor company help you? What services can this company offer to you?

A full service electrical contractor company should, first of all, be fully licensed and should comply with all government requirements. Only then is it truly authorized to design, install, maintain and repair residential, commercial and industrial electrical systems and electrical projects. This includes upgrading and doing electric repairs on electrical panels, control panels, electrical boxes and electric motors, as well as cable fault locating and servicing of street lights, parking lot lighting, landscape lighting, commercial lights and security lighting. It provides all the necessary electrical parts & supplies for these projects. It also provides fully equipped bucket trucks that are ready for dispatch at any time for emergencies.

In hurricane-prone areas, a full service electrical contractor company offers hurricane preparation solutions such as lightning protection, surge protection through surge protectors and generator installation.

A full service electrical contractor company can also provide services on government electrical code consulting to prevent code violation. In Miami-Dade County in Florida, for example, the 40-Year Building Inspection Program obliges structural and electric inspection for safety every ten years for all buildings aged 40 years or more.

Electrical contractor companies in the United States are governed by the National Electrical Code (NEC) and are categorized according to specializations. There are voice/data/video (VDV) electrical contractors or integrated building systems (IBS) electrical contractors; inside electrical contractors; and line electrical contractors or outside electrical contractors.

The voice/data/video (VDV) electrical contractors or integrated building systems (IBS) electrical contractors work on low-voltage power installations. These cover, among others, energy efficient lighting from solar energy or wind energy; power monitoring; back-up or emergency electrical & lighting systems from auxiliary power generators; climate control systems including fire detectors, smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors and exhaust fans; telecommunications systems including closed circuit television; fiber optics; wireless networks and security systems.

The inside electrical contractors manage all electrical work indoors and outdoors within the property boundary lines of their industrial, commercial or residential customer. These cover, among others, heat tracing, electric meters, circuit breakers, junction boxes, fuse boxes and fuses, switches, electric wires, indoor lighting, outdoor lighting, recessed lighting, outdoor fans, patio fans, ceiling fans and ceiling fan repair and water heaters. Inside electrical contractors also do home energy audits.

The line electrical contractors or outside electrical contractors deal with the most powerful and dangerous electrical work involving the infrastructure of high voltage power transmission from the power plant to substations, facilities and users. They manage electric generation systems such as that of hydroelectric energy as well as power plant equipment.

A full service electrical contractor company employs apprentice electricians, journeyman electricians, estimator electricians and project supervisor electricians. Apprentice electricians undergo a training program with hands on practice but only journeyman electricians who have state licenses are allowed to design, install, modify, repair and maintain electrical systems and projects. They are qualified and authorized to terminate cables and install and troubleshoot residential, commercial and industrial electrical wiring, both external and concealed wiring as well as underground wiring, based on technical drawings.

Estimator electricians and project supervisor electricians are journeyman electricians who have been promoted to the next levels. Estimator electricians are responsible for calculating the total costs and schedule of each project. Project supervisor electricians, on the other hand, oversee the whole of each project.

Whether you are a residential, commercial or industrial client, a full service electrical contractor company provides all possible electrical services you will ever need. To ensure complete electrical safety, never entrust your electrical needs to anyone less than a licensed full service electrical contractor.

Bathroom Ceiling Repair Around Exhaust Fan?

My bathroom ceiling around the exhaust fan in the ceiling needs to be replaced. It needs to be replaced because there are 2 cracks coming out from the sides of the grille(vent looking cover) of the exhaust fan. Peeling away a little bit of the ceiling from the grille shows that the drywall/plasterboard is pretty worn. What I would like to fix is this(not drawn to scale):

_|<- - grille - ->|_
| |__________| | ^
|| 12in
|____________ | v
<- - - -10 in- - - ->

Now this isn’t the entire bathroom ceiling, so I don’t want to call a contractor unless I absolutely need to. I would like to repair the affected area myself, however I cannot find any info online about a scenario similar to mine.

Would I attempt to fix the ceiling as if I had a hole as in this video?

If this link does not help, any advice as to how I should go about replacing this small area of my bathroom ceiling?

You would do what that video shows you, except a few differences… When you cut out the sheetrock, cut it out so that you have joistes to screw some 2×4’s to, to help support the new exhaust fan. Build a “box” for the fan to screw to. Cut out a hole the size of the fan in the sheetrock, and attach the exhaust pipe to the fan. YOU MAY NOT NEED TO DO THIS, if its correctly supported already, but it sounds like it may not be, because of the damage. But everything else should be like the video

Watch SawGear in Action!

In by gone days all a contractor had to do was give the customer good quality and good service and he/she would be set. Then set back and let your customers do your selling for you. They would tell a friend and then that friend would tell a friend. Your phone would be ringing off the hook. I remember as an Architectural designer some days I would have up to four people wanting to schedule appointments for designs. Those days are long gone! But Fear Not! Click Here For Help
