this sounds horrible, but I don’t trust husband taking care of newborn daughter…?
I am getting ready to go back to work after maternity leave. My husband will be watching out 8 week old full time since he is an independent contractor. I have primarily taken care of her as he has been tying up jobs to prepare to stay at home. He is somewhat “scattered” in the way he does things, and wont listen to me when I try to show him what works with her when it comes to feeding, consoling, burping, playing, etc. He seems to get frustrated when she cries but wont try my methods saying he will figure out “his own way” When I have left him with her he ends up frustrated and coming to get me to help. And saying this I feel guilty as I know we are 1st time parents and we are both learning I just feel like because I have spent more time with her I know her a little better. I am scared he will let her cry when I am at work if feeding and changing does not solve the problem, and that KILLS ME. I have to return to work as I carry our health insurance. I want to stay home!!!!
He’ll be ok.
He’s as concerned about her as you are, but he DOES need to figure out his own way. Give him some space to learn his way around her…unless you think he’s completely negligent or abusive, he’s not going to hurt her. She’s his daughter too, and he probably resents being told how to take care of her.
