Restaurant exhaust fan upgrading motor help?
Ok so my restaurant’s kitchen a has a 1970’s Loren cook exhaust system. When we remodeled the kitchen the contractor never replaced the hood or fan. Not even the motor. So the original motor died out and we a got a Dayton Motor 3/4 HP 1725 RPM. It wasn’t moving enough air for the grill and heat so we got a new motor again by Dayton 1 HP 3450 RPM. When we installed that one wasn’t doing much and the thermal protection kept tripping the breaker. So we installed the old one. We need to upgrade our motor big time since it gets very hot in FL right now. Can anyone suggest a good a motor that will double the airflow of our exhaust system without having the problems we were dealing with? Maybe upgrading to a 2 HP 3450 RPM? This is a belt drive fan with 115V going to it. I also need to make sure it doesn’t trip the breaker or blow a fuse.
you can change the motor all day lopng but that will not help it. the seytem is right for you it need a good cleaning thould out the syetem. all the pipe , hood squirrl cage and so on . when it not clean like it should the air will not move like it should and it will heat up more. you luck you don,t have a fire.
