Construction Birthday Party Built For Fun
A construction birthday party is perfect for your little builders. So, whether you’re serving up your dirt dessert from a bright yellow dump truck or directing your crew through construction zone activities, put on your hard hat and get ready to construct some birthday fun!
CONSTRUCTION BIRTHDAY PARTY INVITATIONS
Make these party invitations out of bright yellow or bright orange card stock. Place a photo of your child dressed in Construction Gear on the front. Put “A Celebration Is Under Construction” above the photo. On the inside write:

Decorate the corners with construction-related stickers like hammers, hard hats, screwdrivers, dump trucks, etc.
CONSTRUCTION THEME DECORATIONS
To really set the tone for a construction birthday party, you’ll want to turn your party room into a construction site.
Instead of using crepe paper streamers, use rolls of black and yellow caution tape. If you want to mix it up a bit, you can use black and yellow streamers periodically, along with the caution tape.
Hang large clusters of black and yellow balloons, with curling ribbons cascading off of them, from the ceiling.
To decorate the party table area, attach two or three small black and yellow balloons to the backs of the chairs.
Make Construction Signs out of yellow poster board and hang them on the walls. They could say things like, “CAUTION”, “Construction Zone Ahead”, “Children at Work”, “Yield For Construction Birthday Party Fun”, “Work Zone”, etc.
Decorate the party room with construction site paraphernalia like plastic tools, large paint brushes, buckets, large boxes, drop cloths, etc.
Alert your guests of the party location by lining your walkway with orange cones. Take some of those construction signs that you made earlier and attach them to yardstakes and insert the stakes throughout your front yard.
Cover the front door with yellow butcher paper and write in bold, black letters, “CAUTION! Loads of Birthday Fun Up Ahead!”
CONSTRUCTION BIRTHDAY PARTY ACTIVITIES
Create various construction zones by roping off sections using caution tape. Hang construction signs to identify activity occurring at each zone. For example:
Build It – Protect tables with newspaper. Provide ice cream sticks, glue, washable paints, and various decorations like silk flowers, glitter, sequins, beans, buttons, etc. Let kids construct whatever they wish.
High-Rise Success – Provide Legos, blocks, erector sets, tinker toys and let your little workers build to their hearts content.
Structure Building – Gather several large appliance and cardboard boxes, have workers duct tape them together to create a structure, and then let them paint it.
CONSTRUCTION BIRTHDAY PARTY FOOD
Purchase large, plastic dump trucks to use as your serving dishes. When party is over, clean them out and give to your guests as party favors.
Serve munchies like chips, pretzels, nuts, Chex mix, etc. in new paint cans. Use quart size for nuts and large cans for chips.
CONSTRUCTION BIRTHDAY PARTY CAKE
Transfer a sheet cake to a new paint tray and serve with a large scraper that has a 3″ to 4″ wide blade. Serve in new disposable mini paint trays.
CONSTRUCTION BIRTHDAY PARTY FAVORS
Plastic hard hats filled with anything construction-related like small trucks, plastic tools, stickers, Legos, blocks, tool belt, modeling clay, Play Doh, etc.

Driving question Did I do the correct thing?
I’m driving home from school today and theres a part on my route where there’s side walk constructions or something. I read all the signs as usual. construction zone nearing, Men working and then I see a flagman sign. When I near the area I see no detour sign or flagman, so I go on ahead. But one of the working trucks turns and heads the opposite direction, but on my side of the lane. I waited for the other side to clear and then I merged on that side speed up past the trucks and then got back on the lane I was on. Is this the correct thing to do in this situation?
This is one of the many things that I’ve yet experience with driving, so don’t say I should of known because even though I have had my license for 2-3 years now, I don’t drive alot due to gas and no motive to drive.
I will agree with “goldwing”… while the truck was at fault, you did the best thing possible. Only when you do this, make sure they don’t decide at the last minute to drive in the right lane again. If they hit you at this point, now it your fault.
