BlueStone Construction | Increase Architectural Interest on Your New Minnesota Lakehome or Cabin
There are basically two ways to get plans drawn up for your new lakehome. You can go out to your local lumber yard and use their selection of cookie cutter plans…or you can have a professional design/build contractor draft plans up using their architect.
Getting the most design interest out of an architect will require you approach the design process differently than you may naturally be inclined to do. Most folks have a set budget in mind they do not want to exceed. They voice in clear terms this goal and the architect then limits his or her creativity in order not to offend their client.
Lakehome owners who want to get the most design for the money will instruct their architect to show them what their ultimate dream home looks like. Naturally, designing initially for the top will generally produce a home that is over your budgetary goals. Don’t let this bother you. Your contractor can walk through your ultimate design plans and help you decide which features to keep from those you should do without. Once your budget is met, the final product has far more design interest in it than would have been present if you had simply designed to a strict monetary amount. It may sound odd but designing this way really works.
Having this outlook can give you million dollar features in a $500,000 dollar home. Your new lakehome will have more features, more warmth and more interest in it than equally priced cabins along your shoreline.
It takes a talented architect and builder working together to produce extraordinary results. And it takes a willingness from the owners to design for the top rather than the bottom. The difference can easily be seen between a home that is “just another cabin” from a home that makes you say “Wow!”. In other words, getting design magic isn’t in material selections alone. Rather, creating a design jewel comes from how those materials are arranged and the care taken crafting those materials together.

Winter activities with babies?
I live in MN and it gets cold in the winter, so besides playing with toys, reading and singing, what are some good ideas for activities with my 8 month old daughter? Any tips will help. Today we went and got Construction Paper and Halloween cookie cutters and traced them and cut them out to make decorations around the house, but the only part she liked was playing with the cookie cutters. Thanks!
i bake with my 10 mon old……. well i bake.. she plays… i get out mixing bowls and spoons and set her on the kitchen floor..and we sing and stir the ingredients. besides tv.. im out of ideas.. they just like to crawl around and look at things.

In by gone days all a contractor had to do was give the customer good quality and good service and he/she would be set. Then set back and let your customers do your selling for you.
